Purpose & Educational Culture

This chapter establishes standards for mentorship, professional behaviour and feedback within accredited fellowship programmes. The objective is to create a supportive educational culture that promotes continuous professional growth while maintaining uncompromising standards of patient care and safety.

Mentorship Policy

Each fellow shall be assigned a primary mentor at the start of training.

The mentor should normally remain unchanged throughout training unless circumstances require reassignment.

Each mentor should supervise only a manageable number of fellows to ensure high-quality oversight.

Mentorship meetings must occur at predefined intervals and be formally documented.

Faculty shall model ethical and professional conduct in all clinical and academic settings.

Respectful Communication

Respectful communication is mandatory across all clinical teams, trainees, and staff.

Zero Tolerance Policy

Discrimination, harassment or intimidation are strictly unacceptable.

Prompt Conflict Resolution

Conflicts should be addressed promptly through established institutional processes.

Early Remediation Protocol

Educational concerns should be identified early before formal assessment milestones.

An individual learning plan shall be prepared with targeted objectives where required.

Progress reviews shall occur at pre-agreed intervals during remediation.

Successful completion of remediation must be formally documented.
